Life at Play
Ever since I was a child, I’ve looked at the world with a burning curiosity, which then became a formative desire to understand. As I grew older, that desire led me down many roads, but the one thing that always remained was my love for the endless possibilities of the human mind, and what it can accomplish through creativity.
As an Assistant Master Model Builder, I have had the opportunity to bring those creative ideas to life through the medium of LEGO bricks, while also helping others discover the joy of creating the ideas in their own minds. Working with children in particular has helped to shape not only my own perspective on design, but also the way I build. Their hands-on, enthusiastic approach to play has taught me the importance of durability, stability, and thoughtful construction as well. A great model should do more than look good, it should invite exploration of the idea at hand, and withstand the excitement of play.
While much of my personal work is geared toward adult collectors and display, it is still rooted in the same sense of wonder and creativity that first drew me to building with LEGO bricks. I choose to believe that curiosity and imagination are not things we outgrow as we get older, but rather qualities that evolve with us when cultivated. Play keeps us young at heart, and youth lies within the spirit when it all comes down to it. As I grew, my perspective and approach to design have grown alongside it. The simple joy of building as a child has shifted to a deeper appreciation for architecture, storytelling, and craftmanship. The world around me is my inspiration, and it continuously feeds my desire to play.
